BESSEMER, Ala. — Hundreds of children were able to attend an accessible Halloween event on Saturday.
The "Rolling Pumpkin Patch" was designed to accommodate children who use walkers or wheelchairs. The event was created in partnership with 10-year-old Lily Dobson, who uses a wheelchair herself, and her family.
Jennifer Dobson, Lily's mom, says the idea came about years ago, after a tough day at a traditional pumpkin patch. She credits Lily for the event's success.
"All this happened because she has shown us a world that we had no idea about. It's been pretty cool to just be a part of this community, and a part of people loving people," Dobson said. "It's been really special."
More than 275 kids were registered for Saturday's event.
Many of them are members of the Lakeshore Foundation.
